My name is Quannisha Green. I am a senior at the illustrious North Carolina Central University from Myrtle Beach, SC. I am currently furthering my educational and professional development in the health care field. In May 2021, I will be receiving my Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health Education. Growing up in a rural area, resources were very scarce. Access to healthcare, receiving the adequate nutrition, and transportation were just a few of many contributions that lacked in my community. Being surrounded by mostly women, gave me the chance to make observations about important health topics that I believe deserve further attention. I have always envisioned myself working in the health care field, and I am passionate to decrease health disparities for women and infants of color.

Being able to help prevent deaths, improve health status and wellness among women and children is a major deal, and that is what influenced me into Maternal and Child health. MAAME, Inc was introduced to me through one of my Public Health Education professors in one of our senior intern interviews. After hearing about the organization and doing some research, I was very pleased with what I have read about the MAAME Inc. program and its mission to provide primary and preventative health care in a courteous, professional, and personalized manner among African American women. In the future, I hope to reduce the child and maternal mortality rate, and to help improve the limited resources among African American women.
