The state of Black Maternal Health in the United States is in dire need of repair. Black women are two to three times likely to die from pregnancy complications than Caucasian and Hispanic counterparts. Black Maternal Health Week helps keep this health disparity front and center, bringing more awareness to what is going on in communities. During this event, healthy birth outcomes will be shared by birthing people to promote positive birthing experiences, to promote that birthing can be empowering and healing, to give women the courage to speak up when it comes to a birthing plan. We will also highlight what a Doula is and how they improve birthing outcomes.
